The newly renovated Fairview South School which supports the Waukesha County Special Education Consortium held a grand reopening on Friday, September 26, that included a ceremonial ribbon-cutting! The event showcased the facility’s updated spaces and featured an energetic performance from the Brookfield Central marching band. The celebration followed a summer-long, $3.5 million renovation - the school's first major update since reopening as a consortium in 1984 - brought to life by CG Schmidt Construction and Allume Architects following Board approval in 2024.

“This renovation has completely transformed our learning environment,” shared Angie McGuire, Lead Teacher at Fairview South. “The new design is not only beautiful but also more functional and accessible, allowing us to better meet the individual needs of every student and provide them with a space where they can truly thrive.”

The updated building also provides a wonderful home for the Seeds of Tomorrow Hydroponic Lettuce program. This innovative program, which grows fresh lettuce for the district's food service program, serves as a fantastic, hands-on learning opportunity for Fairview students and their peers in high school gardening clubs. The ribbon-cutting was followed by an open house where guests toured different classrooms and learned more about the hydroponic process. The entire Fairview South community expressed gratitude for the support shown by the District Administration, Board of Education, and the community in creating a modern facility that will serve students for years to come.
